How does the HNGRYnsite fridge camera work?

The HNGRYnsite is placed in a door rack of your fridge. The HNGRY app gives you detailed step-by-step instructions and connects to the app via WiFi. Once the camera is in place and connected to HNGRY, it will automatically take a picture every time you close your fridge. The camera’s trigger mechanism is activated by sensors when the door is opened and is triggered when the door is closed in a position that is optimal for taking a picture – at about 45°. The refrigerator image is then seamlessly transferred to the HNGRY Cloud and displayed in the storage area of the HNGRY app. Here you will always see the latest and up-to-date image of your fridge.

The main use-case of the HNGRYnsite is taking a picture of the inside of the fridge using an image sensor with a suitable lens. The image sensor is mostly inactive, it is only activated when the movement of the camera is considered to be regular. The image sensor takes a picture after a software trigger and is deactivated after the picture is taken.

Gyroscope & accelerometer

Detecting the movement and orientation A combined sensor is used to detect the movement and orientation of the device. It combines a tri-axial gyroscope and a tri-axial accelerometer in one housing. The sensor data is mainly used to determine the angle of the fridge door so that a picture can be taken at the correct position. Additionaly the orientation is observed to avoid inappropriate pictures, e.g. in case the camera is removed from the fridge shelf.
